How to Install and Setup an Ecobee Smart Thermostat with 1-Gang
In this video, I unbox, install, and set up my ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium with Smart Sensor.

My previous thermostat was mounted to a 1-gang electrical outlet box in the wall; I did not have enough drywall to mount the wall plate to drywall; I 3D printed a bracket I attached to the 1-gang box and attached the wall plate to the 3D printed bracket.

Full disclosure, for my specific ecobee thermostat model, the holes to attach the wall plate were slightly different and I ended up drilling a hole to accommodate the wall plate. I could have modified the design from thingiverse (linked above), but it was faster to drill a hole.
During the set process, the thermostat is not properly attached to the wall / electrical box. I fixed that problem with the 3D printed bracket the next day. I also repainted the wall around and behind the wall plate.

Drilling holes into the wall plate that align with the 1-gang box
Drywalling over the electrical box except for a hole for the wires for the thermostat.
