In this video we have discussed simple concept of real number system. How many types of intervals or we can say how many ways to represent intervals. In Real analysis, Intervals are very important. Because we use this interval as a domain for limit continuity and derivative concept. So, we must know how many intervals, types of intervals. We generally know that open interval and closed interval or closed interval and open interval. And one of the most important result that intervals are uncountable. But it is not always true. If we say open interval are uncountable then what about empty set or phi set or null set. Also, if we say closed interval are uncountable then what about singleton set (which is an interval). So, we have to analyse in detail real number system and intervals on the real number line. intervals of the real line are of eleven types or we can say there are eleven ways to represents different intervals. Like, semi open and semi closed interval, semi closed interval, semi open interval, open interval, closed interval, intervals having finite length, intervals hving infinite length etc. We have learn interval and types of intervals class 11. But now interval in real analysis plays very important role in higher mathematics as well.
