Germany plans to reintroduce controls at all land borders from next week. The measure will be in force for an initial period of six months. Berlin is under pressure to act after the far right made gains in recent regional elections and a Syrian Islamist who evaded deportation killed three people in a knife attack in the west German town of Solingen.
