After installing Linux Ubuntu 14.04 you will want to install Ubuntu Restricted Extras. If you checked the box at the beginning of the installation you will not have to install. Restricted Extras includes common applications that are restricted by copyright. Restricted Extras includes drivers and codecs such as mp3, avi, mpeg, TrueType, Java, Flash, Codecs. If you are having trouble with video playback, music playback and so on you will want to install Restricted Extras.
