In wireless communications, the signal waves propagate between the transmitter and the receiver through the air and interact with the surrounding objects. In the second video of this series, Prof. Emil Björnson demonstrates how the received signal strength decays with the distance in indoor line-of-sight scenarios. He also showcases how large the penetration losses are when the waves propagate through various objects. The experiments are made in the 26.5 GHz mmWave band, but similar behaviors can be observed in other bands used for wireless communications.

The experiments are carried out using the TMYTEK Developer Kit https://www.tmytek.com/solutions/mmwa... that the company kindly lent us. This is not a sponsored video.

Emil Björnson is an IEEE Fellow and a Professor of Wireless Communication at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. Website: http://ebjornson.com/research
