Former Statistician-General Dr Pali Lehohla says South Africa should consider a postponement of the much-anticipated 2024 general and presidential elections.
Instead, the country should hold wide-ranging talks involving all stakeholders, including communities, civic groups, politicians, businesses and religious organisations, to determine the kind of a country they want to build.
Talking to the Daily Maverick, Lehohla said SA is not in a condition to move on and continue under the current circumstances.
His view is that the nation needs to pause, reset, and have frank conversations.
Dr Lehohla, Director at the Economic Modelling Academy, joins us virtually, as does Political Commentator Ebrahim Fakir, to discuss this.
