In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to fake Global Illumination in After Effects that is usually only available in Cinema4D, Blender or Unreal.

With the new After Effects Version 2024.1 we can now officially import 3D models natively. Using HDRI-maps for Image-based Lighting & 3D model-driven effects are two of the new 3D features.

We're going to take advantage of these features to use a 3D object as a fake light source.

No plugins needed!
