In recent years, social media sites such as Twitter have become home to a new kind of account - that being gimmick accounts. Made usually to just post about a specific subject following a certain rule, some of these people have gone from relative obscurity to admin teams and gathering hundreds of thousands of followers. And unlike most other Twitter accounts, many of them don’t really need to put out their solidly developed opinions - they just put out whatever their gimmick is listed as, and they enjoy their unearned success.
You’d think running an account like this would be easy and this would be the last place for controversy, but as with everything related to Twitter, this is not the case. Usually this happens when these Twitter gimmick accounts break the unwritten rule of sticking to their gimmick, with the result often being hilarious, hateful or just pathetic.
But some of these gimmick accounts break that unwritten rule in such a way that reaches beyond the point of mild annoyance - and today I wanna take you down this wild journey, exploring these unfolding failures in social media management. These are some of the weirdest and worst stories involving Twitter gimmick accounts.
