The 2024 MG4 small hatchback is finally in Australia showrooms, where it's hoping to have a massive impact as one of the first electric cars that's relatively affordable. That's right; the EV price wars are continuing to heat up and with a starting price of $38,990 plus on-road costs, the new Chinese model is right in the thick of it.
But the MG4 faces some stiff competition from the $100-cheaper BYD Dolphin and the GWM Ora, all of which also play around the $40,000 mark. That said, there's a lot more to the Chinese contender than just its sharply priced entry-level variant, the Excite 51, which we recently tested.
In this expert review, Contributing Journalist Stephen Ottley gets behind the wheel of the entire MG4 launch line-up to find out if its more expensive versions are also worth considering. After all, one of them offers some of the best driving-range bank for your buck available today.
