In short, variable fonts are single font files that can be used as if they’re multiple fonts. So what are their benefits?

Quick Design Changes: You can use a slider to customize your designs, which is useful when you're making changes on the go.
Smaller File Size: Since most websites use many variations of a font, variable fonts are useful because they reduce the number of HTTP requests and have a smaller download size. This makes for a shorter loading time on a website.
Unlimited Design Possibilities: They allow designers to customize weights and widths without needing multiple files.
Convenience: Instead of downloading and installing multiple font files, you just need the one!
