In the boundless depths of GameJolt, where games are born and die, forgotten, undiscovered, left in peace, an unusual horror game in the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog emerged. This experience, titled "VanillaGame.exe," begins innocuously, inviting players into a world they thought they knew, only to unravel into something far more sinister.
As the story unfolds, players take on the role of Vanilla the Rabbit, who awakens to a reality turned nightmare: her daughter Cream is missing, along with everyone else in their once peaceful neighborhood. Driven by a mother's desperation, Vanilla sets out into a world that seems to betray the very essence of the Sonic universe she belongs to. The discovery of scattered Chaos Emeralds, symbols of power and hope in her world, now serve as harbingers of a descent into darkness.
With each Emerald collected, the game distorts further, challenging the player's perception and endurance. The cheerful themes and vibrant landscapes of Sonic's world are corrupted into chilling scenes, with the night sky bleeding into ominous hues, and nature itself appearing as if scorched by an unseen apocalypse. The presence of a black entity, an aberration in the shape of Dr. Eggman, marks the culmination of this journey into despair, offering a Chaos Emerald that serves not as a boon, but as a curse.
The horror doesn't confine itself to the game's digital boundaries. A Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) with the code 0xDEADDEAD serves as a grim punctuation to the experience, leaving the player's computer a testament to the terror they've endured. Upon reboot, the remnants of "VanillaGame.exe" are a desktop transformed into a scene of horror, and an encrypted text file, a cryptic clue to a puzzle that perhaps no player wishes to solve.
For those brave or curious enough to delve into this game, remember: it's not the end. Who knows what further secrets "VanillaGame.exe" holds in store?
