If you start monitoring a node with ICMP, you really only get up/down status of the node. You will also see the percentage of packet loss, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

Watch as we changing our monitoring method from ICMP to SNMPv3. When you use SNMP, you get a bunch of information from Solarwinds once you select the items you are interested in monitoring by Listing the Resources of the node and selecting the items that interest you.

In this example, we monitor a QNAP NAS using SNMPv3. We monitor the NICs, Disks, Routing table and more!
