What Is A Mortgage?
Simple question, but it's googled all the time. What is a mortgage? How is it different from a personal loan? I want to clarify exactly what a mortgage is, and by watching this video, you can learn as well without feeling weird about asking anybody about it.
A home-loan, a mortgage, a home-mortgage is simply a debt instrument that is secured against a house. If you don't have enough cash to pay for a house in full, which most of us do not, then you need a "mortgage" to help finance the home you want to buy.
You and a bank will come to an agreement on your down-payment amount, and then you will "mortgage" the house and take out additional debt (via the mortgage debt instrument) which you will pay back to the bank, overtime, with interest.
