ODroid C1 Speed Test: eMMC vs SD Card Class 10 in Boot time showdown
I compare the two storage options available for the ODroid, the eMMC and the SD Card. I test these specifically on the ODroid-C1. The eMMC is a the 8GB version supplied by HardKernel, and the SD Card is a 16GB Class 10 SanDisk.
This is in no way a perfectly executed test, but I have aimed to keep conditions between the two mediums as close as possible. Both cards have been formatted and then loaded with ubuntu 14.04lts from this location: http://www.odroid.in/ubuntu_14.04lts/
Once the system has been booted once, I re sized the partitions, and set the startup file to load the following programs at boot, -Chromium, -Firefox, -Kodi, and -Gimp 2.8.
Want to edit your own startup program list? Access it by typing the following command:
sudo nano ~/.config/lxsession/'profile'/autostart
where 'profile' will be lubuntu if you are using the images supplied by ODroid. Apps can be added to the end of the file with a @ proceeding the appname, eg @chromium-browser, or @kodi.
Want to do your own hdparm test? Use this command:
sudo hdparm -Tt /dev/mmcblk0
