This is a guided prayer of gratitude, created by the Cageless Birds.

Prayer:
Will you pause and pray with me today?
“Enter with the password: ‘Thank you!’ Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever.” - Psalm 100:4-5, MSG

Holy Spirit, I enter your Presence through the gateway of gratitude. I invite You to help me reflect on these last several months with a thankful heart. Today, I thank You for the beauty that this year has held. I recall moments where I found my prayers answered by You. I remember the triumphs and victories you etched into my year. I call to mind circumstances I worried about that You met with Your provision, Your power, and Your care.

I collect these memories and hold them out before You. I let myself feel moved by Your tenderness for me, and I say, “Thank You.”

Holy Spirit, I invite You now to deepen my gratitude. As I reflect on the difficulties and heartaches of the year, I welcome Your perspective. I open up my honesty to You and let you come near to my disappointment and sorrow, and I let You hold the tension with me. I thank You, Jesus, that You are Emmanuel, God with us, and the Man of Sorrows.

I thank You for Your steady and reliable presence in the midst of every challenge I face. I thank You for the gifts that always seem to be highlighted in the contrast of pain: time, compassion, cherished memories, and Your loyal companionship. Thank You for being true to Your word: You have stayed with me. You never leave. Jesus, I receive Your comfort and Your companionship today. Thank You for Your dependable, and trustworthy love.
