BOB DOWNE realised the dream of a lifetime with a run of four sold out concerts at Sydney's legendary, 2000-seat STATE THEATRE in May 2002. His 2-hour rock & pop concert, COLD AUGUST NIGHT, was captured as a Live concert CD (produced by Andrew Thomas Wilson) and on the same night was filmed from the front row by Bob's long time devoted fan Amber Beattie, who travelled from Aberdeen, Scotland to see the shows. Here are four numbers from the concert (with synced video and CD audio):
1. BIG PATTI (Jane Markey) introduces Bob's band, THE X-RENTALS, who open with the 1972 Gary Glitter classic ROCK & ROLL, PART TWO
2. BOB arrives (on rollerskates!) with Cliff Richard's 1980 comeback hit, WIRED FOR SOUND.
3. BOB performs the 1970 hit LOVE GROWS (WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES) with an all-live trio backing by The X-Rentals.
4. BOB & his backup chick SOLEIL MOONFRY (Jane Markey) duet on CRUISIN', again with an all-live trio backing from The X-Rentals.
