How to set the export DPI without changing the image size – you can set the export to 300 DPI resolution without changing the image size. If you work in pixels (px) in Inkscape then you may have had problems changing the resolution of your exported image without changing the image size. When you change the DPI in the ‘Image size’ section of the ‘Export PNG Image’ dialogue box you would have noticed that the image size changes, this can be a problem. But there is a simple solution.
If your image size is exactly what you want, but you want to change the resolution (or DPI) then you need to ignore the DPI in the ‘Image size’ section and go down to the bottom of the dialogue box, click on ‘Advanced’. This will give you some new options, you want to change the ‘pHYs dpi’ or physical DPI, by setting the resolution here you will force Inkscape to export your png image at the desired resolution without affecting the image size – problem solved.
