We at Wiggle teamed up with Hoka and persuaded six random people to complete one of the hardest Ironman races in the world!
We gave them the kit, the tech and the nutrition, the coaches, the training plan and the entry - plus everything they needed to prepare for the long distance triathlon. Ultimately though, race day comes down to them. Was nine months enough time to train? Did they put in the hours? Did they have what it takes?
We’ve been following Wiggle Hoka Flyers' journey to Ironman Wales; from never having done a triathlon before, to shooting for a PB, to proving age is just a number. They took on a 2.4 mile swim with an Aussie exit, a 112 mile ride with 2500m elevation and a 26.2 marathon distance run. Did they make it down the red carpet to the finish line?
From the beginning of the year, Wiggle, Hoka, and partners dhb, Garmin, High5, and Osprey provided a range of cutting-edge kit to ensure the team were equipped with everything they needed.
They also received training plans from top coaches Susie and Rob Cheetham of Cheetham Coaching, strength and conditioning sessions with record-breaking ultra-runner Carla Molinaro, running technique masterclasses with Matt Bergin and nutritional advice from Team GB coach Nick Anderson.
