James and his brother Freddie had always been close growing up but after years of struggling with his mental health, James felt isolated and alone. A dark voice entered James’ head, telling him he wasn’t good enough.
After struggling with suicidal thoughts, James decided to reach out to his brother Freddie and tell him how he was feeling. Through a few initial text messages, James began to talk about his emotions. His brother’s support served as a reminder that he was not alone, and importantly, that he was loved.
As part of our UOKM8 campaign, which is focused on removing the taboo around talking about your mental health, we asked James to tell his story into a mirror - not realising his older brother was there listening on the other side.
