Exploring the food traditions of our East European Jewish heritage
Most Eastern European Jewish foods we know about are related to holidays or special occasions. But what kind of foods did Jews in the shtetl eat on a regular Wednesday? What did they give their kids to snack on when they came home from cheder? How do these food traditions play a role in our own lives?
Explore the answers to these questions with Forverts editor Rukhl Schaechter, food scholar and chef Eve Jochnowitz, folklore and food scholar Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett and travel writer Joe Baur.
