A 3D harmonograph generated by a computer!
By using damped pendulums, this mechanical apparatus produces geometric images that blend math and art in perfect harmony.

What is algorithmic art?

Algorithmic art, also known as generative art, is a form of art that is created through the use of computer programming and algorithms.
The artist designs a set of rules or instructions using code, and then uses a computer to execute these instructions to generate the artwork.
The results are unique and often unpredictable creations that are shaped by both the artist's design and the inherent randomness or complexity of the algorithm.

What is a three-dimensional digital harmongraph?

A 3D digital harmonograph is a computer-generated art form that simulates the harmonious and rhythmic movements of damped pendulums to produce intricate and visually stunning geometric patterns and shapes in three-dimensional space.
Using computer algorithms and mathematical equations, this digital version of the traditional mechanical harmonograph creates a display of ever-evolving designs.

What is a damped pendulum?

A pendulum is a weight or object attached to a fixed point that swings back and forth under the influence of gravity, typically used to measure time or demonstrate the principles of harmonic motion.
A damped pendulum is a swinging object, typically a weight attached to a string or rod, that gradually loses its motion due to the dissipation of energy caused by friction or air resistance.
The damping effect causes the pendulum to slow down and eventually come to a stop.
