What is mewing and does it work?
I did a little research into the history of "mewing:" a recent trend on social media that claims to reshape peoples' jaws with regular tongue exercise. I ended up down a rabbit hole I wasn't expecting to find myself in, and which includes toxic masculinity, orthodontists barred from practicing dentistry, and more.
Mewing is a tool I've used in the photography industry to temporarily slim the jawline for a photo-- it's just another posing technique during a portrait session. Honestly, it's been rather shocking to see this whole movement of people selling it as a daily exercise to change your face shape, and its dark background makes it disturbing that it's so popular.
