First of all, make sure, that you logged on an account with local administrator privileges
Open your command prompt. (Run as Administrator)
Type: “net stop wuauserv”
Hit Enter
Type: “ren c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution softwaredistribution.old”
Hit Enter
Note: The "C" drive is assigned to the main hard disk partition that contains the operating system and system files, your Windows OS may installed in a different driver...
Type: “net start wuauserv”
Hit Enter
That’s all, check for windows updates. (You may need to restart your computer)
