Back in 2011, Carrie Dahlby messaged my producer Ben Stahl about the possibility of him recording a backing track for a parody idea she had for Three6Mafia's Oscar Award winning song "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" from the film "Hustle and Flow". Due to various reasons that parody never came about, but I always thought it was a brilliant idea. So when I was putting tracks together for my new album "Illinoise" I asked her if I could use her idea. Of course I wanted her to be a part of the song too, so thankfully she not only agreed to me writing the song but also to her performing the hook. After 10 years since inception to release I think it was worth the wait...a wait that was certainly longer than most temp jobs either of us ever held.
