Sega Genesis was the second console released in the United States by the Sega Corporation. It was meant as a rival for the popular Super Nintendo and offered 16 bit entertainment. The Genesis had multiple successes throughout it's life span, but the most popular would have to be Sonic the Hedgehog, which was the Mario of Sega. This is not to say that other games like Altered Beast, NBA Jam and of course, Mortal Kombat, were not huge games as well.
