Award-winning author Sofi Oksanen’s work focuses on the subtle ways in which misogyny, experiences of state oppression, and prejudice against immigrants intertwine and affect the psyche of women on the move for generations. In this talk from the Gothenburg Book Fair 2024, she - together with psychologist and expert on trauma, PTSD, and the psychological impact of storytelling Frida Johansson Metso - explores how writing, storytelling, and art can help alleviate the interborder, intergenerational trauma many of those fleeing difficult circumstances experience. The session was moderated by author and former participant in UNHCR’s Refugee Speakers Programme Faiaz Dowlatzai.
