From acclaimed Italian filmmaker Dino Risi (1916-2008), this anthology film stars Carlo Giuffrè (1928-2018), Clara Colosimo (1922-1994), actor and film director Enrico Maria Salerno (1926-1994), film and television actor Ettore Manni (1927-1979), French actress Greta Vaillant (1942-2000), Monica Vitti (1931-2022), and actor and film director Renzo Marignano (1923-1987). The film, divided into twelve short comedic stories written by different screenwriters such as Ettore Scola (1931-2016), Luciano Vincenzoni (1926-2013), and Rodolfo Sonego (1921-2000) all feature Monica Vitti in the main role, giving the actress the opportunity to do a wide range of roles, something she greatly excelled at. The film humorously explores women's complexities, contradictions, and roles in modern society, blending social commentary with Risi's signature wit.

For the music that underscores the different segments, the producers chose prolific film and musical composer Armando Trovajoli (also Trovaioli), a musician who's far too underrated and whom one can easily compare to Ennio Morricone (1928-2020), Piero Piccioni (1921-2004), and Piero Umiliani (1926-2001). The proof is here in these eleven compositions (as a bonus, this album features six additional cues), their sinuous elegance exhibiting both the popular and aristocratic styles of composition. Trovajoli effortlessly shifts from music played on piano to jazzy cues with remarkable atmosphere. 'Music In The Dark is perhaps one of the best cues on the album, with great bossa influences, whilst 'Suor Kathleen (sung by Monica Vitti) features lyrics by Ettore Scola and music by Trovajoli and Carlo Pes (1927-1999), whose work with Marc 4 became an important milestone for soundtracks and synchronizations. Providing the perfect contrast to that is 'Tarerou Cartoons, with sparkling rhythms that maintain their luster for the entire length of the cue, an example of easygoing, timeless harmony. 'Schiava D'Amore brings perturbing melancholy in a classical vein, with strings painting cheerful, introspective atmospheres, whilst 'Il Mondo Cammina bursts forth with a guitar riff and percussion that derail into a beat frenzy, its rhythms like an antagonist to 'Cuore Di Padrone, a cue which invokes the deepest sadness. Piano builds tension in 'Siciliana, providing a musical backdrop to a scene which ends in an honour murder. 'Noi Donne Siamo Fatte Cosi is yet another brilliant score from Trovajoli, who wrote for more than two-hundred films and collaborated with numerous prominent Italian filmmakers and musicians during a career that spanned over six decades.
