The term "digiscoping" or attaching a digicam to the telescope has long been used in conjunction with terrestrial spotting scopes. But there were only few demo on how the "afocal" method of imaging could be used in Astrophotography, photographing moon and planets on a budget using an ordinary point and shoot digicam (or smart phones) attached to big Astronomical telescopes. Let me describe a cheap and alternative way on how to shoot detailed high quality craters of the moon with less hassle and the cost. Gears used: Nikon Coolpix 995 vintage digicam and Tasco Luminova 4.5 inch 900 mm Newtonian Astronomical Telescope, an old discontinued telescope. The Dobsonian mount is my homemade project from plywood scrap materials.
