Way back in the summer, I was with a couple friends and one of them started playing Subnautica. I hadn’t tried the game for myself prior to that point, but I was really inspired at the environments that passed as my friend descended further and further down the ocean and saw these huge, grand illuminated underwater caves. I wanted to write a song that encapsulated what I felt watching him play that game--and thus came Lost to the Depths. The intro started off purely based on that feeling, and as I got further into the song I fleshed out the story of the song a little more, where someone manages to surface inside a huge cave and they explore deeper into it. I really like making songs about exploring giant environments, lol.
