Is 50mm better than 35mm for portraits?
Both focal lengths are amazing for portraits. There are some differences though. 35mm is alot wider and going to capture a lot more environment around your subject. Something to also keep in mind is that you won't get as much bokeh with a 35mm, when compared to something like a 50 or 85mm.
50mm is probably the most common portrait focal length because it falls into that standard focal category and gives you a much more natural look.
