The Battle of Gettysburg was fought over 160 years ago. To this day when you visit this battlefield you can still feel the sacredness for all the life lost in three days of fighting in the July heat. The quiet, tranquil peace of this Pennsylvania town was quickly shattered with the sounds of booming canons, firing rifles and the other horrific sounds of war.

The "Battle Hymn of the Republic" was written by Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910) and is one of the most popular and iconic songs of the American Civil War.
