This is a wooden, balsa and ply, version of a competition style glider called a DLG or a Discus Launch Glider. Built over the winter in 2023 and flown all summer. Common competitive DLG's are of composite design and thus, far more expensive with incredible performance. I thought this would give me a taste of the sport and would make me familiar with their set-up without the hefty cost associated. But in addition also being a fun aircraft to assemble.
Worthy of note that I have proven that this glider can thermal successfully to the point you might just loose sight of it.

I've posted a small log of my build process on RC groups that can be found here.

I'm in the process of building a second glider, and will update as I progress. Utilizing what I learned about my first build to hopefully make it lighter and stronger.
