Think of it like this: Instead of carrying everything around in your backpack, you store it in a secure, magical vault you can access anytime and anywhere.
Everything you use daily—emails, music apps like Spotify, and video streaming platforms like YouTube—relies on cloud computing. These platforms need a place to store massive amounts of data, and that place is a network of computer clusters and servers located all around the world. But since 'global network of computer clusters’ isn’t exactly catchy, we just call it the cloud.



Let’s talk about YouTube—something we all know and love. Right now, you’re watching this video on a device, maybe your phone, laptop, tablet, or even your TV.
Now, think about this: How many videos have you watched today? Let’s say you’ve been binge-watching, and you’ve watched at least 4 gigabytes of content today.

Without cloud computing, here’s what would happen: You’d have to download all that video content onto your device to watch it. Now imagine doing that every single day. Your phone or laptop would be full in no time, and you’d constantly be running out of storage. Doesn’t sound very practical, right?
Here’s where the cloud comes to the rescue. YouTube stores all of its videos on massive, super-secure servers—clusters of powerful computers that are part of the cloud. When you hit play, the video is streamed to your device from the cloud, which means you don’t need to download anything, and your device stays clutter-free. It’s convenient for you and efficient for YouTube. Without cloud computing, platforms like YouTube wouldn’t exist as we know them today.

With IaaS, you manage things like the operating system, middleware, and apps, while the cloud provider takes care of the physical servers and networking.
For example, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure all offer IaaS solutions. Businesses love IaaS because it lets them scale their infrastructure as needed without owning any hardware. Need more power for your website during a big sale?
