There is a number of posts and reports emerging about this saying 750k songs and 15k artist have been taken down from #spotify due to fake streams from BS third-party playlists or suspicious or scammy marketing practices. We probably won't know the exact numbers And its unfortunate that the industry is blaming distrokid and not BS third-party Spotify playlists.
But let's look at the facts and watch my full video:
Fact 1: Spotify owns a minority share in #distrokid giving them a certain influence over what they do.
Fact 2: spotify will pay out distributors like @distrokid , tunecore, CD baby and others
Fact 3 : I have personally witnessed artists being taken down from spotify through other distributors like dittomusic and tunecore in the past, so even though this story specifically points to distrokid, artists won't be immune from getting shut down if they use shitty plaulists in the future after switching distributors
Fact 4: Spotify has to payout all streams, so they always try to avoid paying out for streams that are not real, this activity is not going to spot, in fact it may get more stringent and affect more artists in the future
BUT WATCH THE FULL VIDEO TO SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!
