Why don’t deck builders gap pressure treated decking anymore?
When installing pressure treated decking boards, install them tight to each other as pressure treated lumber shrinks when it dries. This will create natural gaps on the deck floor to keep standing water off your deck. If you gap pressure treated decking during installation, you will end up with gaps much larger than you need or want.
