Southeast Asia is one of the most dynamic and diverse regions in the world, with a growing influence on the world economy and an ambitious regional integration roadmap. It is increasingly a hub for global economic activity, through integration into key supply chains and as a destination for foreign investment.
For over 25 years, the OECD and Southeast Asia have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship, fostering policy dialogue and disseminating good practices and mutual learning in areas such as investment, education, inclusiveness, sustainable infrastructures, good governance, access to markets, and fiscal policy. All ten ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam) participate in OECD committees, working groups, peer reviews and studies. In February 2024, Indonesia commenced the accession process to become an OECD Member.
The OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP), launched in 2014, has been instrumental in strengthening OECD co-operation with this dynamic region.

ABOUT THE OECD
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation established in 1960 that works collaboratively to build better policies for better lives. Our goal is to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being for all. Together with governments, policy makers, policy shapers, and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.
