Changing simple sentences to compound sentences. What makes a sentence simple? Simple sentences are made up of one independent clause- that is, it has a subject, it has a verb, and it is a completed thought.
What makes a sentence compound? It is made up of two independent clauses, each with a subject and verb, joined together by a coordinating conjunction. Think of compound sentences as being two or more simple sentences joined together.
