IT Landscape Manager (LM)is responsible for owning, maintaining and running a bunch of applications like SAP ECC, BW, APO or OTM or even multiple Java or web based applications.
IT Landscape manager not only sets the guidelines on how the IT Landscape should run and what are the KPI’s which govern it, IT LM also holds the respective teams accountable for executing the guidelines. IT LM acts as a gatekeeper for system resilience, partnering with local and global project teams to ensure right designs. Any identified gaps are worked out in detail and implemented. The IT Landscape is kept well performing and healthy through functional checks, periodic analysis, continuous improvements, and technical projects in relevant area. IT Landscape Managers are also responsible for coordinating run escalations for complex incidents, issues to achieve target uptime levels for the IT Landscape.
IT LM is responsible for ensuring
• the performance of the IT Landscape is optimal,
• the upgrade schedules are agreed and followed,
• change and release schedules are adhered to,
• meet project requirements for any technical IT Landscape planning
• keeping the IT Landscape secure.
IT LM sets the expectation on the performance standard, does the analysis if the performance is not as expected and drives actions with the respective teams. IT LM will be responsible for setting the agenda for upgrades and executing them. The LM works with the technical, functional and vendor teams like SAP, Oracle etc to carry out the upgrade, testing and safeguard the IT Landscape while doing it. IT LM will be responsible for creating a change release calendar and running the change and release process for the IT Landscape. The LM works with the global change management team to ensure the release calendar is globally aligned and published and with the business partners to ensure the projects release dates are aligned to the calendar. In doing this, the LM will work with multiple internal and external teams to influence and align the teams to the common agenda and align how the IT Landscape will run and perform. The LM will need to groom teams and people to deliver their best.
