Some European countries have imposed a ban on the import of Ukrainian grain. This came as a shocking news as agro-export accounts for 70% of Ukraine's foreign currency earnings from commodity exports.
In the conditions of war and chronic need for currency inflows, maintaining the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain creates significant additional risks to Ukraine's macrofinancial stability. The country's leadership promptly engaged in the grain issue, however, the solution to the problem does not seem obvious.
What was the real reason for the crisis? Can Ukraine quickly switch to alternative markets? What are the possible solutions to the problem?
We will discuss these and other questions with the participants of the discussion.
Speakers:
Alex Lissitsa, CEO of IMK;
Oleg Nievsky, Vice President for Economic Education, Associate Professor at Kyiv School of Economics.
