Many people only learn about how aperture controls depth of field, but there's a lot more to it than that. Proximity and focal length also matter quite a bit. Here at Camera Lessons Online July is macro month and so we'll discuss why you always get a shallow depth of field when shooting this type of imagery, nearly independent of aperture.
