Brain-computer interfaces or BCIs are truly science fiction. It describes technology that connects our brains to computers. It is already being used to help disabled people operate wheelchairs and help abled people play pong with their minds. So how does it work?
In this video we do a deep dive into the fascinating physics and biology behind non-invasive brain-computer interfaces such as those using EEGs and fMRIs. We also look at invasive BCIs such as those being developed by Elon Musk's Neuralink.
As this technology grows, the potential is huge. We can use it to control the world around us, drive our cars and operate our computers. In the medical world it would allow amputees to control prosthetic limbs and give people with spinal injuries the ability to walk again. And the thing I'm most excited about - allow us to communicate telepathically with our minds.
