To me, YouTube TV is the best streaming service for watching live TV. You get all your local channels and most of the typical channels you'd find on cable. If you're considering signing up for YouTube TV the current price is $72.99 per month. And there have been price increases over time.
I've been with YouTube TV for quite awhile now and can explain to you the price increases I've experienced. I signed up in September of 2018 and the cost was a very attractive $40 a month. And here's the progression of the price increases over time:
$40/mo - September 2018
$50/mo - May 2019
$65/mo - July 2020
$73/mo - April 2023
On all of them, I received an email announcing the new rate because of their rising costs. And sometimes these increases were the result of YouTube TV adding more channels to their lineup. I never like having to pay more for things but I will continue to stay with YouTube TV. Not only do I get all my local channels, but one of my favorite features is the unlimited DVR.
I can record anything without space issues. For example, I can record the entire Olympics coverage with hundreds of hours of events and still record all my other shows. I was never able to do that with my cable TV DVR because of the lack of hard drive space. Plus I can share my YouTube TV account with up to 5 other people. And each of those people will have their own unlimited DVR and viewing history. And just so you know, when you invite members to your account, they'll log in with their own Gmail address allowing you to keep your account completely separate from everyone else's.
I'm hoping that the current $72.99 a month price stays for awhile. But as I've shown earlier, price increases are always possible. YouTube TV also has additional services you can subscribe to like sports channels and 4K streaming. In addition they also offer premium subscription channels. But that'll bring your overall costs up. And for me the base plan is all I've ever needed.
