This video reviews the typical radiographic presentation of ankylosing spondylitis.
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that primarily affects the spine and sacroiliac joints (the joints connecting the base of the spine to the pelvis). It belongs to a group of conditions known as spondyloarthropathies. AS causes inflammation in the affected areas, which can lead to pain, stiffness, and eventually fusion of the spine and joints.
Included are numerous radiographic examples, specific radiographic terminology/named signs, general information, and multiple choice questions at the end. Enjoy!
