Performance issues in teams are rooted in one or more of five distinct areas. The first is the command instruction of the team. The second, the teams shared experience. Third is the shared values of the team (the real values, not the ones created by a marketing consultant and stuck on the wall). And fourthly, the area most often neglected, is shared situational awareness. All four must be well-lubricated with effective communication. High team performance demands unity of cohesion and effort - this enables higher productivity, greater empowerment and benefits the whole team, and the organization.
