Your favorite company is going public and you're planning on buying in. Should you jump into the IPO or wait for the dust to settle?
IPOs can result in spectacular returns or losses for investors and many investors are hungry to get in on the share price action right away. Recent IPOs such as Uber, Lyft, Palantir, Beyond Meat, Casper and Xpeng has shown why IPOs can be a good time to buy into companies you believe in.
Do your research and check out a companies S-1 filing before an IPO, and decide whether you want to invest or not. Buy your shares as soon as possible and hold it for the long term, that's my advice
Dont chase soaring IPOs or look for bargains in botched ones, just stick to what you know and get in as soon as possible. After all, 99% of your stock market gains comes in the years following the IPO.
