How to Crochet: Foundation Single Crochet (FSC)
How to make the Foundation Single Crochet (fsc) stitch - a great way to start a project without having to crochet into a long chain! Once you've got the fsc row made, then you just work into the row as you normally would for Row 2 (for sc, just ch1, turn, and start crocheting).
