Learning the basics of programming is easy, but getting a job in the industry is hard.
Here is what I would do if I started over.
👨💻 Build your projects.
A finished and released project with real users will teach you a lot while you are building and looks more impressive in your portfolio than a GitHub profile with tutorials.
🤳 Build your online presence:
Start to share your learning and projects on day one. That will help you make a first impression about yourself and your skills before the job interview.
👯 Make friends:
Connect with like-minded people in the industry. Learn together, which can help you get into a job later.
Don't try to fake it just for your benefit. It will hurt you in the long run.
👨🏫 Find a mentor(s):
Find someone who is a few steps ahead of you. Follow them on socials, read and watch their content and ask meaningful questions when you have them.
"How to get a job?" is a dumb question, do not ask that.
🎯 Have the right mindset:
If you expect to get a job quickly, you are setting yourself up for failure.
When I started freelancing on online job platforms, I sent hundreds of proposals and took a few crappy projects until I got on good projects.
Be ready to apply for a hundred jobs until you get the offer.
Every failed job interview is an opportunity to learn for the next one.
