The key to creating a great Characters in ZBrush specially for anatomy is to start simple this yield quite a few benifits, such as easier on the system less polygons means quicker responce times, also easier to mask and soften masks, Easiers to move and build up material for these reaons you should start with a low resolution base and then push that resolution as far as you can before adding resolution to the model.
