In the 19th century, the English shipbuilder Veniamin Fomich Stocke, in the service in the Russian Empire, built more than 600 ships of various ranks, including the famous frigate Pallas. The archives contain many drawings of the boats of his authorship, among which Yaly, as the most popular and simplest of all types of small vessels, deserve special attention. Usually they had a clinker trim, one mast and from 2 to 8 oars. Yalami armed most of the ships of that time to perform a different range of tasks: reconnaissance, supply and transportation of the crew. They found no less widespread use as a pleasure boat or port boat.
Our yal was reconstructed according to an archive drawing from the RGAVMF funds and has the forms closest to modern designs, but at the same time with a feature - drop-shaped contours, which add beauty to its outlines. This combined model is an excellent educational tool for beginner modellers on the device and the overall appearance of the boat.
