Talking about failure can be uncomfortable, but failure is inevitable and the key is how to recovered. Interviewers (like me!) love to ask about failure to learn more about your resilience, creative problem solving, and how you learn and evolve on the job.
Never fear the Failure Question again!
Learn how to Answer the Failure Question by
👉 (1) choosing the best possible example
👉 (2) using a proven answer framework (which works on all behavioral interview questions).
I also provide a real example that demonstrates
👉 the best kinds of failures
👉 how to answer the question with structure, details, and quantification.
❌ For fun, I also give a terrible example that shows you what NOT to do.
-------
⚡ TLDR
What to do
✅ Select a failure that wasn't caused by your actions, bad judgement, or inabilities.
✅ Select a failure that you were able to turn around (it needs to have a good ending)
✅ Structure your answer using the STAR++ method (check out this dedicated video on my improved STAR method that works every time: • Better than the STAR Method Interview... )
✅ Demonstrate resilience, leadership, focus, and a growth mindset.
⚠️ What NOT to do
⛔ Blame others
⛔ Select a failure that didn't end well
⛔️ Select a failure that reflects poorly on your skills or judgment
